Together we are building a movement, and we want to give people from all communities and backgrounds equal opportunities to move more, in a way that works best for them.
Our new Activity Finder allows Dorset residents to find activities and events near them. Whether they are introducing themselves to physical activity, or looking for a new way to move more, our activity finder allows them to find and book a variety of classes, many of them for free.
Thanks to open data, it’s now easier than ever to add your sessions to the platform.
Our finder is powered by Opendata, a set of data standards that allows activities to be shared openly and freely, without the need for duplicating across different websites. When you post with Opendata, your activity will be seen by thousands, across a range of activity finder platforms.
In the physical activity sector, activity providers open their systems to share details of their sessions, such as date, times, available facilities or the difficulty level of a class. This system is known as Open Active.
No personal information is shared, and booking is still completed via your website or normal route. It is free additional marketing for your business.
- OpenActive allows your activities to feature across different websites, apps and platforms, instantly. You no longer have to upload information or agree partnerships one at a time. It’s basically free marketing!

- In addition to being listed on our activity finder your sessions could also be listed on National Governing Bodies’ club finders or activity finders for national campaigns like This Girl Can, and Change for Life.
