Spaces & Places

Offering spaces and places that are welcoming, and accessible for everyone is important to make sure that everyone has the same opportunities to move.

There’s no such thing as a ‘neutral space’. The places and spaces around us can change how, when, and where we move.

What do we mean by spaces?

  1. Sport and physical activity facilities: include places like pitches, courts, pools and leisure centres.
  2. Community spaces: could be places like parks and open spaces, village halls, community centres and schools.
  3. The wider built environment: Our streets, housing estates and town squares.

We know that not everyone has equal access to movement. We want to help change that. Use our activity finder to discover local activities or understand how you can build movement into your day by active travel.

Activity Finder

Use our new Activity Finder to find activities and events near you, a lot of which are free. From walking groups, seated yoga, football and wheelchair sports. There is something for everyone!
